When I was in my late teen my older brother had got his pilot license and we hired an 6 seater plane and till today I remember this trip so vividly. We all got into the plane and the morning we left Moorrabin Airport in Melbourne it was a really cold, so we were all wearing jumpers and jackets and then we landed in Albury to fill the plane with petrol and the weather was slightly warmer. We then flew to Bankstown to meet all our relatives for lunch and everyone was wearing jumpers and thick shirts.
We then left Bankstown airport and flew to Coolangatta, (1st time to QLD), well what a surprise, everyone in the airport were wearing shorts, thongs, singlets and t' shirts. I just couldn't believe that people in Melbourne at that very moment were living in the Cold and trying to keep warm.
My Love for QLD was instant, it had everything that you wanted plus more. Everyone you spoke to were happy and glad to be there, now I wont go into any details how the holiday went but you can see that I was gong to work out a way to come back and live there.
When I returned to Melbourne I was helping my best friend out doing carpet laying, now I told him all about the Gold Coast, telling him we should look at our options. It took me a whole 20min to convince him we should sell up and check it out while we were young.
6 Weeks later I returned to the Gold Coast, now, this is were I learnt my biggest lesson about listening to people about property investment.
I asked my older brother who was heavily involved in Property Investment in Melbourne telling him that "we should be investing in the Gold Coast as I thought it has so much potential", his response, "you'll never make money in property in QLD". Being my older brother I listened to him and pushed it aside.
The property I was looking at when I got the Gold Coast was valued around $150k were today that same property is valued over 2 million dollars.
I have no doubt in my mind that the Gold Coast will be another or already is another landmark icon such as Monte Carlo, Hawaii or California.
It has one of the best beaches of the world, everyone wants to live there because of the weather and the great lifestyle it has to offer, right now to buy on the beach you would need millions just for the land.
But the smart investors can still invest in an area with-in a few kilometers from the surf.
It has nightlife, restaurants, them parks and the best hotels in the world, no one builds or invests in these places for no reason.
The whole place gives a sense of no stress and happiness and people from around the Australia and the World come there for their holidays,
Its a great place to get around easily and to enjoy life to it's fullest everyday, it gives some
of the best livable temperatures know to man all year round.
I personally have seen the Gold Coast change from a surfers bums hang out place in the 80's to where
the rich and famous are now taking there place and making it their home.
Since the early 1990's high rise after high rise we being built, I was always
asking myself, how do they fill these places. Yet today 18 years later, they are still building
new modern high rises and not to mention the Hilton and the Soul high rise
right in the center of Surfers.
I believe Property will continue to grow on the Gold Coast due to the demand from many people selling properties in Sydney and around Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand. All selling to settle down on the Gold Coast or around QLD. Not to mention all the business owners buying their holiday homes here or deciding to run there Australian businesses from the Gold Coast.
